Checklist of things so we’re all on the same wavelength 🙂

Thank you so much for agreeing to be part of this project to encourage entrepreneurial couples. To facilitate a smooth interview, there’s some technology we need to address.

Pre-recording checklist:

Before we connect for our call, please check the following to ensure the best audio for our interview:

1. Quit all applications (Command Q on Mac)
2. If you have options for which room you record in, try to use a room with curtains, rugs, other elements that may help keep the sound from bouncing around. My cat loves to walk on my computer at THE worst times, so she will be banned during our call. Be mindful of similar potential unwanted sounds. But life happens–babies wake up, dogs bark when we least want them to. We’ll deal with it and move on.
3. Launch Skype or zoom (should be confirmed in email). The video is just so we can see each other, so feel free to come in workout clothes if that’s where you are in your day. Or your pajamas. Judgement free zone.
4. Temporarily pause (or quit) any cloud storage syncing solutions (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.)==>right click on the menu bar app icon
5. Temporarily turn off Time Machine (if applicable)
6. If you’re on a laptop, plug into power source.
7. If at all possible, plug your computer directly to your router via Ethernet cable
8. Mute anything that would ding, sing, or buzz–iphone, ipad, apple watch, etc.
9. Activate “Do Not Disturb” on all your other devices, except the one you’re using to connect to skype or zoom.
10. Connect the headphone/mic setup that I sent. Make sure it is recognized by going to system preferences and selecting “sound”. Your mic should show here. If not, we’ll try to troubleshoot prior to the call. Youtube video has saved me when I need to find a quick answer to something technical.

I know that looks like a lot–thank you for understanding what we’re up against when recording. We’ll make sure the audio is working well, check sound levels, and get to the fun part!

After we wrap up the interview, just go back through anything you turned off and return to your regular settings.
